Chinese New Year in Sabah, Sarawak, Kalimantan and Brunei
Various festivals, Chinese New Year carnevals, evening markets take place at different towns in Malaysian Borneo and perhaps less frequent other places on the island of Borneo. Sabah usually has a big Chinese New Year celebrations. Sarawak also hosts several Chinese New Year festivities. In 2011 the Kuching City South Council (MBKS) hosts a Chinese New Year Party For All. In addition there are also night markets planned such as the Sibu Chinese New Year Bazaar.

Several hotels offer special Chinese New Year Buffets. Families enjoy going out during the festive period. Hotels in Sabah and Sarawak are often fully booked during the hoiday period, so early hotel room reservation is recommended. Unfortunately hotel room prices during Chinese New Year holiday may go up.
