Currency: Malaysian Ringgit "RM" (local people refer to it as the Malaysian Dollar). 

Credit cards: accepted in most hotels and in the supermarkets in the main cities. Money changing: banks, money changes, hotels. 

Traveler cheques: accepted, some money changes however only take cash.
